McMurphy has a criminal past and has once again gotten himself into trouble and is sentenced by the court. To escape labor duties in prison, McMurphy pleads insanity and is sent to a ward for the mentally unstable. Once here, McMurphy both endures and stands witness to the abuse and degradation of the oppressive Nurse Ratched, who gains superiority and power through the flaws of the other inmates. McMurphy and the other inmates band together to make a rebellious stance against the atrocious Nurse.

"Ass Backwards" is an irreverent female buddy comedy about two childhood best friends who are pushing the age of 30 and not quite where they thought they'd be in life. As the hunt for the man with no past and no future continues to escalate, they begin to question what about the world is reality and what is a dream as the line between sanity and insanity becomes more apparent.

He has an unsatisfying home life where his wife Lydia follows him wherever he goes - in the form of messages and faxes - for him to deal with the minutiae of their everyday lives, while she stays at home to look after their kids. Staying at the same upscale hotel is fellow American, twenty-something recent Yale Philosophy graduate Charlotte, her husband John, an entertainment still photographer, who is on assignment in Japan. As such, she is largely left to her own devices in the city, especially when his job takes him out of Tokyo. Both Bob and Charlotte are feeling lost by their current situations, which are not helped by the cultural barriers they feel in Tokyo, those cultural barriers extending far beyond just not knowing the language. After a few chance encounters in the hotel, they end up spending much of their time hanging out together, each helping the other deal with their feelings of loss in their current lives. The friendship that develops between the two, which is not always a bumpy-free one, may be just for this specific place and time, but it may also have long lasting implications.

2003 American-Japanese comedy-drama film by Sofia Coppola

This is the story of Melvin, the Tromaville Health Club mop boy, who inadvertently and naively trusts the hedonistic, contemptuous and vain health club members, to the point of accidentally ending up in a vat of toxic waste. The devastating results then have a transmogrification effect, his alter ego is released, and the Toxic Avenger is born, to deadly and comical results. The local mop boy is now the local Superhero, the saviour of corruption, thuggish bullies and indifference. Troma classic with good make-up effects and stunts, a pleasant surprise indeed.

2021 American computer-animated science fiction comedy film

Maybe it's got good hype around it. Maybe it's premise is so oddly niché that it piqued my interest. This is stuff I would like to check out, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Basically my media "to-do list" of metaphorical books I've judged by their covers.

Media I devoured veraciously in my youth, but haven't revisited in over a decade, fearing the worst. Perhaps I always had excellent taste and a keen eye for trite hackery, or maybe I ate garbage and loved it.

Maybe one day I'll have nothing else to watch and the mood will strike me. Or maybe I'll never learn how these stories end. Am I missing you or dodging a bullet? I may or may not ever not know.

Might Finish It One Day

Nothing brilliant here. Either by-the-numbers comfort food or gimmicks where the point was supposed to be, these shows may not exactly be works of art, but I'd be lying if i said they weren't crafted with some level of competence. Not interesting enough to keep me invested, but inoffensive enough to keep me from shutting it off. I may not be able to give these shows my stamp of approval, but I gave them hours of my time and even the serialized equivalent of instant mac n' cheese deserves some credit for that.
